BODYWORK

I use a variety of bodywork techniques in my practice including Shiatsu, CranioSacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Bowenwork and Ionic Cleanse with lymph bodywork.

These sessions are a lighter based bodywork with energy healing.

SHIATSU

Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork therapy that incorporates the principles of acupuncture.  Shiatsu is performed through light clothing without oils or lotions.  Shiatsu Bodywork helps to restore to the energy of the body and can be a form of therapeutic massage.

Heidi makes an assessment with the clients using signs and symptom, and may use muscle testing, and pulse and tongue readings.

Shiatsu uses massage and stimulation along the meridian pathways and areas of the body that are influenced by the meridians, or are in need of tonifying, moving or dispersing energy.  Shiatsu is a whole body massage.

This energy that flows through the pathways is called Qi (Chee).  Qi is our vital life force of energy.  It is like rivers of energy that flows through our body.  These energy pathways are named after organs and have influence on the function of the organ they are named after.  They are also influenced by certain times of the day, seasons of the year, foods, emotions and many other things., This stimulation can be very gentle to tonify and move the energy, called Qi (Chee,) or it can be more vigorous and deeper to disperse stagnant Qi.

The concept is – If the energy in the meridians is healthy and free flowing, the body can heal much easier – physically, mentally and emotionally.

When a client is struggling with energy after chronic or serious illness, tonification is appropriate.  If a client has inflammation or pain and stiffness, dispersing techniques, with a suitable touch for that pain, may be more appropriate. Some areas of the body may need dispersing while other areas need tonifying. Shiatsu usually includes working on the whole body as the meridians flow through the arms and legs and into or out of the chest and head.  The area of concern can be addressed through different areas of the body.  Such as, tension in the neck and shoulders can be relieved by working on certain parts of the legs and feet as well as the neck and shoulders.

Each session may be different according to the client’s needs. Shiatsu Bodywork helps to improve the immune system, circulation, healing and well-being.  Shiatsu also helps relieve physical and emotional stress and tension. Since all the meridians are connected through a gently flow throughout the body, releasing these blockages helps to improve health and vitality for the body as a whole. Shiatsu Bodywork Therapy is performed through light, movable clothing without the use of oils.

Shiatsu can be helpful for most all muscular skeletal issues, headaches, pre-menstrual and menopausal issues, tension and stress issues, fibromyalgia, digestive issues, fatigue and sleep imbalances. I also use other Asian healing techniques with my bodywork session including:  Korean Hand Therapy, Gua Sha, Reflexology and Che Nei Tsang (Asian abdominal massage for the vital organs)

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

CranioSacral Therapy was developed by Dr. John Upledger, who is an osteopathic physician and researcher. The CranioSacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord.  It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth down to the sacrum – tailbone. This system influences the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord.  An imbalance or restriction could cause any number of sensory, motor or neurological disabilities including:  chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities and other health challenges.

CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed without lotions or oils. I use very light touch to release restrictions in the CranioSacral system, relieving pressure that may have accumulated on the brain and spinal cord. The goal is to establish a free flow of the cerebral spinal fluid.

This technique is useful for all structural issues including headache and back pain.  It is also very relaxing, provides stress relief and takes one out of the “fight or flight” mode.

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Lymphatic Drainage Technique was developed by Dr. Bruno Chikly who is an osteopathic and medical doctor.

Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is a method of stimulating your lymph and body fluids.  It is very gentle hands-on procedure that will help you eliminate fluid retention, cleanse your body and eliminate toxins and trapped proteins in your tissues.  It will stimulate your immune system, help you to relax, and release stress and emotional trauma.  It has many other effects on your body, as well. Lymphatic Drainage has been known to help with chronic inflammatory processes such as:  chronic fatigue syndrome, autoimmune, bronchitis, sinusitis, laryngitis, arthritis, acne, eczema, etc.  Stimulation of the lymphatic tissue tends to increase parasympathetic tone and diminish sympathetic tone – the “fight or flight” response.  This can be helpful in dealing with stress, depression and sleep disorders.  LDT alleviates tissue-fluid stagnation and inhibits receptors that trigger pain.  It can be effective in dealing with some kinds of chronic pain.  LDT can also help reduce muscle spasm including those associated with constipation.  LDT can be helpful pre and post-surgery to help speed healing and reduce swelling and inflammation.  LDT can also be helpful with some other conditions such as tinnitus, allergies, fibromyalgia syndrome, pre-menstrual bloating, pain, irritability and muscle/skeletal injuries and sports traumas.  LDT is great for the skin and can help improve skin tone, reduce wrinkles and relax facial muscles.

BOWENWORK BODYWORK

Bowenwork was created by Thomas Bowen in Australia.  Bowen work is a gentle hands on bodywork.

Bowenwork bodywork is gentle moves that involves stretching the facia, challenging the tissue along tendon heads and specific points and rolling over tendon fibers. This technique activates a vibration that communicates with the nerve receptors, sending a vibratory message through the tendons and connective tissues to the brain, which then sends a response message to the tissue to release, relax, realign and repair.

This is a super effective therapy.  Each session is taylored to the individual and their needs.

Bowenwork is good for most anything. Some common treatments are for headaches, back pain, joint pains, pelvic and sacral issues, TMJ, sinus, respiratory issues, shoulders, extremities and scoliosis.

Bowenwork also takes the body out of the fight or flight mode.

IONIC CLEANSE FOOTBATHIonic cleansing can help your body to eliminate toxins, through the bottom of your feet.

Your feet have specific areas that relate to all areas and organs of your body.  The bottom of the foot has thousands of pores and sweat glands.

The ionic cleanse involves placing your feet into a container filled with warm salt water.  An energizing array creates a flow of electrons, sending signals up through the lymph glands to stimulate a detoxification process.  The negative ions produced help the body to become more alkaline.  Neutralized particles and waste are pulled out of your body through osmosis.

Your body is daily exposed to toxins! The human body is an electric energetic unit!  When cells are fully charged they have more oxygen and the body can more easily heal itself. Ionic Cleansing works great with Bodywork or Lymphatic Drainage.  Sessions can include Ionic Cleanse along with manual lymphatic drainage.

Heidi is not doing Bodywork sessions at this time.  Heidi uses her knowledge of the body and these systems in her Long Distance Energy Healing.
